ELECT BOB MARRS COUNCILLOR WARD 1 ALLISTON

Bob has always been involved in this community culminating with being Councillor Ward 1 from 2003 – 2006. He was Coordinator for Neighborhood Watch, Chair of the “Community Policing” Committee, civilian coordinator of Cops Connection and Citizens on Patrol as well as assisting with several local activities and fund raising events. Bob helped upgrade equipment equipment for the Skateboard Park in Riverdale Park.

During his three years on council Bob was involved with many community projects and committees as a representative of council, Downtown Improvement Area board (DIA), Alliston & District Chamber of Commerce (ADCC), Park and Recreation Committee, Accessibility Advisory Committee, NVCA Board,Downtown Core Improvement Task Force (Chair, 06,) Graffiti control Committee (Chair 05, 06) and Alternative Policing Review committee (Chair 04)

Bob has worked with the Heart and Stroke Foundation since 1998. He has Co-chaired and Chaired the Cdn Cancer Society’s “Relay For Life” since 2006 and now serves as the Canadian Cancer Society Branch President for Alliston and area.

Bob continues to work hard promoting New Tecumseth as a tourism destination and makes decisions based on the best interest of the town as a whole. Bob was very involved in the organization of the Christmas parade and downtown festivities in Alliston 2005/6. Was involved in the downtown festivities at Potato festival and donned the costumes of both Mr. And Mrs. Potato Head for the parade proving that he cannot peel potatoes very well with padded mitts on. Bob was instrumental in bringing the “Festival of Lights”, a celebration of community, to New Tecumseth.

BOB ADDRESSES YOUR CONCERNS

In his previous term, Bob addressed and acted on your concerns:

• That we needed a proper recreation centre - Bob was instrumental is making our new Recreation facility a reality.
• That the area needed planned and controlled development in harmony with existing and expanding infrastructure. Bob was very involved in the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) and chaired the Downtown Core Improvement Task Force, facade and sign grant programme.
• Although there are still pressures regarding large development the pressure has lessened and we are proceeding at a reasonable and controlled pace..thanks to Bob’s logic and reasoning
• That the fiscal problems brought on in part by Provincial down loading and regulation changes along with local issues had to be overcome. Bob continues to be a watchdog on financial issues.

WHY IS BOB RUNNING AGAIN?

• Because he believes that community involvement is a privilege as well as a duty.
• Because he is experienced (Councillor Ward 1 2003/2006) and is able to do an even better job for you on council for 2010 – 2014.
• Because Bob wants to complete the programs and projects that are ongoing and important to New Tecumseth’s growth and development.
• Because fiscal responsibility is an ongoing task that showed progress over the three years he was on council. Bob would like to be a part of that process once again
